[공경]실로 중요한 것은...
만 권의 책을 읽고 만 번의 절을 하고
만 번의 경을 읽기 전엔 그런 것이 중요한 줄 알았다.
그러나 만 권의 책, 만 번의 절, 만 번의 경을 읽고 나니
그런 건 하나도 중요한 게 아니네.
정말로 중요한 것은 그런 것이 아니라 우리가 숨을 쉬고 있다는 것,
뜰앞에 꽃이 핀다는 것, 그리고 하늘은 푸르고 구름은 흘러간다는 것.
이 세상은 모두가 별 같은 보석으로 이미 빛나고 있다는 것...
세상은 모두가 원래로 진리의 삶을 살고 있는 것을.
모두가 완벽하고 무엇 하나 더하고 덜 것이 없는 것을.
그것을 모르고 자꾸만 무얼 더하고 덜려 했으니.
누구를 가르치고 누구를 막으려 했으니...
물론 만 권의 책을 읽지 않았으면 이런 사실을 몰랐을지도 모르지만,
만 권의 책을 읽지 않은 저 시냇물, 저 들꽃이
이미 진리로 살고 있는 것을 보니 꼭 그렇지만도 않을 듯.
실로 중요한 것은 그러한 것을 내 삶에 더하는 것이 아니라
이 눈부신 하늘을 우러러 감사하게 사는 것.
이웃을 섬기고 공양하며 그 뜻을 따라주며
비록 내 마음과 같지 않더라도 찬란한 본래 모습 들어날 때까지
넉넉한 마음으로 모두를 안아 주고 기쁘게 해 드리는 것.
그리하여 만물을 그대로 꽃피우고 만인을 편안케 하는 것이,
만 권의 책, 만 번의 가르침보다 훨씬 더 나은 일이네...
