[밝은 행이 업장을 소멸한다]
인간에게서 죄는 숙명적(?)인 듯, 모든 종교는 인간의 죄에 대한 가르침이 있습니다.
기독교는 인간은 원래 죄인이기 때문에 죄를 짓지 않을 수 없으며,
오직 창조주의 은총에 의해서만 죄의 사함이 있을 수 있다고 하여
한사코 주님의 은총을 기다립니다.
다만, 언제 어느 때, 누구에게 그 은총이 올지는 아무도 모릅니다.
인간은 다만 정성을 바칠 뿐입니다.
불교 역시 업장의 해악을 설하며 여러 방법으로 업장 소멸을 가르칩니다.
그런 가르침에 따라 업장 소멸을 위해,
스스로 업장 깊음을 한탄하며 수천 수만 번의 진언, 절 등을 하는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.
그러나 저는 오늘, 죄나 업장이란
그런 식으로만 소멸되는 것은 아님을 감히 말씀드리고 싶습니다.
죄나 업장은 특별한 행을 통해서가 아니라,
또는 밖으로부터 오는 은총이나 구원에 의해서가 아니라,
우리 스스로가 진리의 삶, 밝은 삶을 살 때
저절로 사라지는 것이라 말씀드리고 싶습니다.
밝은 삶, 진리의 삶을 살 때 죄와 업은 그대로 소멸됩니다.
우리가 업을 소멸 못하는 것은
특별한 행을 충분히 못해서라거나 은총을 못 받아서가 아니라,
스스로 밝은 삶을 지어나가고 있지 못하기 때문인 것입니다.
과거의 잘못을 지금도 되풀이하고 있기에,
말로는 반성하고 참회한다면서도 몸으로는 계속
과거의 습을 따라 어두운 삶을 가고 있기에 내 삶이 밝아지지 않는 것이지,
신의 구원이나 특정 수행을 덜해서 그런 것은 결코 아닌 것입니다.
업장 소멸을 위해서는 또한 지난 날 나의 잘못은 내가 받겠다,
는 겸허한 마음가짐이 필요합니다.
내가 잘못하여 내게 오는 그 고난, 고통을,
무슨 낯으로 다른 힘을 빌려 안 받겠다는 것입니까?
잘못은 저질러 놓고 책임은 지지 않고 싶은 마음- 그 마음이 바로 어두운 마음입니다.
아직 나의 진리의 삶이 미약할 때 업풍이 닥친다면 나는 기꺼이 받을 것입니다.
그리고 그 고난 고통에 오히려 미안하고 고맙게 생각할 것입니다.
내 죄는 내가 받는 것입니다.
책임을 지겠다는 마음,
기꺼이 업장을 받아 들이겠다는 마음-그 마음이 바로 밝은 마음이요,
이렇게 한 마음 밝아질 때 업장은
한 여름 기세등등하던 태풍이 한 순간에 열대성 저기압으로 바뀌듯,
그대로 소멸해 버리는 것입니다.
기독교에서 말하는 구원이 오기까지의 우리의 정성,
그리고 불교에서 말하는 여러 가지 업장 소멸의 행을 자세히 보면,
사실은 모두가 진리의 행, 밝은 행입니다.
다만 우리가 아직 어리석어 어떤 것이 진리의 삶이요 밝은 행인지 잘 모르기에,
사정이 각기 다른 여러 사람들에게 하나의 공통된 상징으로서
그런 행, 그런 마음을 지어나가게 하는 것으로 볼 수도 있습니다.
가령 업장 소멸의 대표적 불교 수행법인 진언수행법을 보면,
진언(眞言)이란 말 자체가 '진리의 말씀'이란 뜻입니다.
진리의 말씀을 수없이 되뇌임으로써
진릐의 파동이 일며 진리의 가피가 오는 것이며
그러한 [진리의 힘]에 의해 업이 소멸되는 것입니다.
그러므로 죄의 사함, 업장 소멸을 위해
특별한 인연이나 별다른 방법을 구할 일이 아닙니다.
물론 진언이나 염불, 사경, 봉사 활동, 절 수행 등을 하는 것도 좋은 일이지만,
그것만으로는 되지 않습니다.
무엇보다 나의 삶을 진리의 삶,
밝은 삶으로 만들어 나가야 합니다.
나의 삶은 어두우면서 절이나 교회에 가서
부처님, 주님께 매달려봐야 아무 소용이 없습니다.
마음에는 절망, 한탄 등의 어두운 그림을 그리며
일상에서는 남과 대립하며 시기, 질투, 분노, 집착,원망심을 버리지 못하고
툭하면 남을 치고 남과 다투면서
아무리 부처님, 주님께 죄의 사함, 업장 소멸을 갈망해도 되지 않는 것입니다.
우리는 오로지 밝은 삶, 진리의 삶을 지어나갈 일입니다.
아무리 절망이 밀려와도 희망과 용기를 잃지 않으며,
내 고통만 괴로워 할 게 아니라 나보다 더한 타인에 대한 연민을 잃지 않고,
늘 긍정적이고 기쁨에 차며 매사에 감사하며
이웃에 조금이라도 웃음과 도움을 드리는 삶을 지어나갈 일입니다.
그러한 밝은 삶이 진리의 삶이며,
그렇게 살고 그렇게 지어갈 때
업장은 어느새 사라지고 흔적도 없게 될 것입니다.
진리의 삶, 밝은 삶을 지어갈 때,
우리는 이미 구원되어 있으며
업장은 이미 소멸되어 있을 것입니다...*^*^*_()_

사섭법, 사무량심, 육바라밀 등이 그것인데,
그 중에서도 모든 가르침을 섭수하는 가르침이
섬기고 공양하는 [보현행원]입니다.
믿기지 않으실지 모르지만,
일체 중생을 찬탄하고 공경,공양하는 보현행원을 할 때
밝은 삶, 진리의 세계는
저절로, 그대로
우리 앞에 전개됩니다.
성철큰스님께서 108 대 참회문을 만드실 때,
후반부를 보현행원품의 게송으로 만드신 것은
이런 이유에서가 아닌가 생각합니다.
