[구정물이라도 소가 먹으면 젖이 된다]
맑은 물이라도 뱀이 먹으면 독이 되고
구정물이라도 소가 먹으면 젖이 됩니다
아무리 험난한 어려움이라도 내가 그것을 축복으로 받으면 축복이 되고
아무리 찬란한 축복이라도 내가 그것을 고통으로 받으면 고통이 됩니다
부처님이 성도하실 때 마왕은 불화살을 쏘았지마는
부처님께 이른 불화살은 꽃잎이 되어 부처님께 떨어집니다
마왕은 분노와 저주의 불화살을 부처님께 마구 퍼부었지마는
부처님은 그 분노와 저주를 축복과 자비로 안으셨기 때문입니다
눈에 보이는 대립, 갈등, 저주, 분노, 절망을
내가 그렇게 받아들이면 그들은 고스란히 내게 어둠으로 다가옵니다
그러나 내가 그들을 그렇게 보지 않고
나를 일깨우러 오시는 역행보살(逆行菩薩, 반면교사로 중생을 가르치는 분)로 보면
고통도 절망도 모두 희망과 축복으로 변합니다
눈앞에 보이는 아픔과 어려움에 속지 마십시오
그들은 모두 나를 더 강하게 이끌고 더 크게 성장시키려 오시는 반가운 벗님들일지니
온 사방이 캄캄한 어둠이고 한치 앞도 보이지 않는 안개 속이라 할지라도
우리는 오로지 밝음만을 볼 일입니다
아무리 어둡고 아무리 가슴 아프더라도
그런 것에 아랑 곳 없이 나는 오직 밝음(光明)만을 지어나갈지니
오늘도 나는 감사(感謝)와 희망(希望)으로
내 안의 등불 밝혀 나가렵니다...
