[저 장엄하게 떨어지는 낙엽을 보라]
늦가을 바람 스칠 때 우수수 떨어지는 저 장엄한 낙엽들을 보라.
마치 출발 신호와 함께 전력 질주하는 100 m 달리기 주자(走者)들처럼
바람 소리에 행여나 뒤질세라 다른 잎들에 처질세라
조금도 미련없이 전력으로 떨어지는 저 나뭇잎들.
나는 저 나뭇잎들에서 장엄한 낙조의 아름다움을,
슬픔보다는 우리 모두를 위한 기쁨을 본다.
때가 되면 우리도 미련없이 가야 할지니
그것이 권력이든 재물이든 영광이든 오욕이든
심지어 우리의 삶까지도
가야할 때는 조금도 마음 두지 말고
저 낙엽들처럼 시원스레 가야 하리라.
다시 스치는 소슬한 가을 바람 소리
그와 함께 우수수 떨어지는 저 푸른 낙엽들
찬탄 찬탄!
낙엽아! 너희는 나보다 낫다!
